Dark Nova

Minor Website Update by Space Dog on February 15, 2005

I made a few minor changes to the website to improve accessibility.

Website Revisions by Space Dog on January 3, 2005

I've revised the website to improve the CSS rollovers and make the HTML markup display reasonably in browsers that don't support CSS.

Dark Nova 0.1.3 Alpha by Space Dog on April 23, 2004

It's been a while since our last release, and many new features have been added. One of the most important changes is that Dark Nova now supports both DirectDraw and SDL/OpenGL graphics rendering in the same executable. Dark Nova is also much more stable and features an improved HUD (although the buttons don't work yet).

As usual, you can find this new release in the Downloads section.

Website Fixes by Space Dog on September 15, 2003

I made a few enhancements to the website to improve how it renders on Opera 7.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0. The Gallery page should now display properly for Opera users.

Dark Nova 0.1.2.1 Alpha released and an Apology by Space Dog on September 6, 2003

Okay, I screwed up. I should have done better testing with the fix I made for release 0.1.2, and now I'm forced to release a fix of a fix because I didn't do adequate testing before release. My apologies to anyone who was given false hope by the last release, and to those who support our project, I would hope that you continue to do so in spite of my mistake. I pledge not to make such an amateur mistake in the future. End of line.

Dark Nova 0.1.2 Alpha released by Space Dog on September 5, 2003

Many people have expressed concerns about the limited graphics card compatibility and inflexible CD-ROM checking in Dark Nova 0.1.1. In response, I've created a quick release to address these deficiencies. The problem with video has not been completely solved, but we will continue to improve video compatibility in future releases.

Dark Nova 0.1.1 Alpha and Site Improvements by Space Dog on September 2, 2003

Dark Nova 0.1.1 is our second alpha release, and contains a number of minor improvements and fixes. These additions include (slightly) better pathfinding and a major fix to the sound subsystem. You can find this new release in the Downloads section.

On a side note, I've recently reworked this site to eliminate all use of HTML tables and use only CSS for positioning. The result is a cleaner set of web pages that load (a little bit) faster and are easier to maintain.

Dark Nova 0.1.0 Alpha has been released! by Space Dog on June 21, 2003

We've released our first public release of Dark Nova. This is an early alpha release, so many features are not included yet. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to contribute.

Also, I fixed yet another problem with the CSS rollovers. This latest fix should allow Internet Explorer to preload the hover images.

CSS Rollover Fix by Space Dog on May 31, 2003

I reworked the CSS and HTML to make the rollovers work in Internet Explorer. The problem was actually a bug in IE, but I found a very clean and efficient solution that works in both IE and Mozilla and uses less CSS and HTML code. So, now the Dark Nova site renders almost identically in both browsers and takes (slightly) less bandwidth.

New and improved site design by Space Dog on March 21, 2003

I've finally put together a more permanent website together. I've decided to throw caution to the wind and design it specifically for browsers with CSS1, CSS2 and PNG support. If you're using a browser that has good support for these features, you shouldn't have any problem viewing this site. However, if you're using a less evolved browser, like Netscape Communicator 4.x, your browser probably won't render this site correctly.

If there's enough demand, I'll rewrite this site for older and less sophisticated browsers.
